While reviewing notes for a parenting class I was to teach, my eyes fell upon these words, “Whether
we want to or not we tend to parent in the same way we were parented”.
My mind traveled to Hands of Grace Ministries and the needs of the
girls living at Cara’s House, for a transitional time, after their
babies are born.
Some are in a very new environment. They have never known such family love and care. They have not been exposed to hugs, laughter, or fun. They are learning Christian values. As new babes in Christ they are taking weak, wobbly steps on their path of Christian growth. All the girls are taking one day at a time and are in great need for mentors.
Having to return to their old environment in so short a time can bring on a feeling like stepping into a pit. They have been there and are familiar with the old routine. It will be very hard for each of them to be strong, being thrust back into their old lifestyle.
Pray for every girl who walks through Cara’s House, that each one may be given a chance to take a step closer to a new beginning.
