Cara was a popular girl, full of life and excited about going off to college. She was a Christian, and an active member of her church youth group. When she was 18, she became pregnant. Feeling trapped, embarrassed and alone, she turned to the only option she thought she had. Cara decided to have an abortion in the hopes that this would just make it go away.

But it didn’t go away. In the days and weeks that followed, she truly regretted that she hadn’t looked for some other possible “choices”. Wanting to reach out to other girls in the same situation, it became her heart’s desire to let them know that there really are other options.

Weeks before her 21st birthday, Cara died in a tragic car accident. In honor of the love she shared in the few years she had lived, we honor her memory with “Cara’s House” and will continue the work that was so important to her.

Cara's House will provide pregnant teens who choose an alternative to abortion with a safe living environment, nurturing, counseling and education. The young woman may choose to either parent her child or place the child for adoption. We will teach her what is involved in becoming a healthy parent and what is required to raise her child. As an alternative, we have a relationship with a faith-based child placement agency.

Cara's House is now open and operating in Bellville TX.
